Trust Building

Establishing Trust

0 178

Trust is one of the most beautiful things in the world when you witness it firsthand. As much as possible, we should try to value others trust and not break it when it has been given, because scars caused by distrust are very hard to heal.

Trust: “assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something”
Merriam Webster Dictionary

Relationships are usually based on trust, you’re not really investing in a relationship except you trust your partner.

Sometimes though, because of past experiences and psychological trauma, we find it hard to trust. But, I think discovering the keys to trusting someone might go a long way to help.

5 Keys To Trust

1. Faith

Before you can trust, you must have faith in yourself and the person you intend to trust.
Faith is believing in things that are unseen, and except you’ve seen evidence of a person’s trustworthiness, you need faith to trust that person.

2. Understanding

You must understand the person and the person must understand you, it’s not easy, that’s quite true, but no good thing comes easy.Understanding also means that you must work hard to gather knowledge about that person and ensure that you can interpret the knowledge you’ve gathered in real life situations.

3. You must acknowledge that it’s not your fault that people have played with your trust in the past, it’s not unusual for people to do things that will cause you to distrust them.

4. You must let go of past grudges. Don’t let your past experiences define your new ones, learn from them and try to avoid a similar situation, but don’t create one.

5. You must think like a child.

Children trust easily, they love easily too, because they’ve not experienced things that can make them distrust people, and when they do, they forgive easily as well.
Sometimes, we find it hard to forgive, but before we can forget and move on, we need to forgive grievances.

Trust is one of the most beautiful things in the world when you witness it firsthand. As much as possible, we should try to value others trust and not break it when it has been given, because scars caused by distrust are very hard to heal.
